The Story of Science and Soul

I have always been fascinated by human behavior. I grew up in a military family, surrounded by different cultures and belief systems, and I kept wondering why we believe such different things and yet behave so much alike.
After the U.S. Navy and a degree in Business, I went to interview for a job in orthopedics at a children's hospital. Instead, I was invited to consider Child Psychiatry. It was a dream come true, and I stayed in mental health until the birth of my son and a neuromuscular disease turned my life upside down.
A New Mom, a Scary Diagnosis
Illness has a way of making you get clear about what matters most. I was a new mom, praying my son would get to know who I really am. Alongside medical treatment, I learned how much managing stress and focusing my mind on healing mattered. In time the illness became manageable. I returned to my passion, earned a degree in Counseling, and worked in community mental health before stepping into the corporate world.
I thought I knew better, but I still lived what so many leaders live: burnout, stress-related illness, little sleep, and the constant worry that I wasn't doing enough. I could do everything right and still have a mind running a story that kept me stuck.
Looking for Change
So I went looking for what actually creates change. Science gave me a way to see and shift my nervous system. Through HeartMath™, I reduced stress and anxiety and retrained my brain. Soul work reached what science alone couldn't: Internal Family Systems, journey work, and the teachings of wisdom keepers I've studied with around the world. My blood pressure improved, my sleep returned, and so did my sense of inner calm.
Then I was asked to create a corporate program to support veterans in the workplace. I became a licensed HeartMath facilitator and resilience coach and launched the first corporate program for veterans using HeartMath. It grew by word of mouth into a mental wellness offering for every employee.
Where Science and Soul Converge
Over lunch, a colleague told me about a coaching program he had joined. I went home, read its mission to "create heart-centered leaders, that would change the world" and knew without a doubt that was my work. I joined the Institute for Integrative Intelligence and discovered the power of coaching to transform lives.
Today, I bring it all together: the science, the soul, and a coach's commitment to you, for change that lasts. This is a different approach. It works.
